Year 3 Sleepover

He

Wow, where to begin! What an incredible couple of days Year 3 have had.

All of the children made us immensely proud (if not a little tired) with their fantastic resilience, positive attitude and smiles during the sleepover!

We began the afternoon with some fun, free choice activities around the school including sand play, netball, Skip2Bfit, yoga and fun in the role play area, before enjoying some year-group games!

The children then built their own obstacle course using sports equipment, such as ladders and hurdles, which lead up to the ultimate bouncy castle obstacle course! They had an absolute blast overcoming the obstacle course and showed great encouragement towards each other.

It was then time for some mindfulness colouring and a cool-down, before some delicious dinner of pizza or chicken goujons with chips and salad. As it was such a beautiful evening, we even managed to eat our dinner outside! Whilst we let our dinner go down, we showed off our singing talent in some karaoke and even got the microphones out. We are very lucky in Year 3 that we have so many beautiful singers.

We then participated in some team-building activities that required us to work together and support each other to achieve a goal. The children were absolutely brilliant at this and rose to the challenge well. It showed we really do have a year group of excellent team players!

As the sun started to set, Mr O’Brien arrived to build the forest school campfire. We loved singing Mr B’s silly songs and toasting marshmallows over the fire to make s’mores to go with our hot chocolate. Earlier in our Rainbow Topic week, we wrote down our worries and it was time to get rid of these completely by burning them on the fire.

The children showed brilliant independence getting ready for bed, brushing their teeth and sorting their bedding out. We all then cosied up ready to watch our film. We wound down quickly and as the film was turned off at 11pm, we were all settled and shortly asleep!

This morning, we woke up with the sun and got ourselves dressed and freshened up for the day. We then put away our bedding and helped our friends to tidy theirs away too before we had a yummy breakfast of pancakes, cereal or toast with juice! We then had a lovely start to our day with a run around before some team games. As we were too sleepy last night, we finished off the film this morning with our popcorn which was a great treat!

The staff would like to say a huge well done and thank you to the children for their fantastic attitude,  resilience and maturity which made the whole sleepover such a fantastic, enjoyable experience for all! They showed us how ready they are for residential next year and we can’t wait to see the fun they have then. Additionally, thank you to all our Year 3 families for your support with the sleepover and for the much welcomed goodies for the sleepover team to keep us going!
